Are there funding options for vasectomies?
Generally speaking, vasectomies are not funded by the public health care system.
Private Health Insurrance Some private health insurrance policies fund a vasectomy and you should confirm this with your provider. If needed, we can provide a quote for pre-approval or, alternatively, a receipt so you can claim it back.

Southern DHB. Some men’s vasectomies can be funded by meeting certain criteria. We can assist in the application so you can have your vasectomy paid for by the DHB. Your partner will need to meet certain criteria and you can use our questionnaire below to determine if you might be eligible.
Payment options. With times being tough and kids being expensive we understand that forking out $495 for a vasectomy is not easy. Get in touch and we can work with you to find a payment plan that works for you and your family.
Southern DHB funding application
Applying for a funded vasectomy has a slight quirk in that we refer your female partner to the hospital Women’s Clinic. It’s just a paper referral so she is not actually required to have an appointment. You may have your vasectomy funded if she scores 75 points out of a possible 100. If you are unsure you should still complete the form below and we can arrange a time to discuss the application.
