Our Vasectomy Process

Step 1: Book Appointment

Choose a convenient time through our simple online system. No GP referral or consultation required (but available if preferred).

Step 2: Preparation

Most men don’t need to do anything before the procedure. If you’d like a consult or pre-medication, this will be organised one week before the procedure.

Step 3: The Procedure

No-scalpel vasectomies take 10–15 minutes to complete under local anaesthetic. Most men do not require stitches.

Step 4: Recovery

You’ll be back to light duties in 2–3 days. Full recovery in a week. We’ll guide you on what to expect and when to resume activity.

No special fasting or grooming required.

If you selected to take the premedication

  • You’ll need to collect your prescription from your pharmacy.
  • A consent form will be emailed to you for signing.
  • Please arrange for someone to drive you to and from the clinic.
  • Take your pre-medication about 1 hour before your procedure.

Late failure (~0.05%) — very rare.

Soreness or chronic testicular pain (~1%) — usually resolves within weeks; less than 1% have longer-lasting discomfort.

You can withdraw consent any time, even after signing the consent form.

If you decide not to proceed, you will receive a full refund.

At your appointment, we’ll supply:

  • Ibuprofen 800 mg, to be taken twice daily for 7 days

  • Antibiotics for 24 hours only

If you have any allergies, suitable alternatives will be arranged.

Examination: brief check to locate both tubes, skin cleaned with chlorhexidine.

Anaesthetic: local injection with a very fine needle; stings briefly then numbness follows quickly.

Procedure: tubes sealed through a tiny hole; total procedure time ~10-15 minutes.

Take the day off — no waiting required post-procedure.

Follow RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression (wear supportive briefs), Elevation (feet up).

Avoid heavy physical activity for 1 week to prevent bruising and aid recovery.
